Game 1: Started out SLOW against Protech Ducks Friday night and the boys weren’t at their best, and ended up losing, a “bitter pill to swallow”, of 4-0.
(Bitter medicine is sometimes the BEST medicine.)
Game 2: Saturday morning we came out of the gates a bit on the slow side against the Capital City Vipers. Vipers jumped out to a 2-0 lead half way through the 2nd, then the boys woke up and started play physical hockey and the goals came with the hits. We beat Capital City 5-3.
Game 3: Saturday afternoon we came ready to play against a good Hatfield Ice Dogs team. The team played their best game of the season up to that point, in beating the Ice Dogs 3-0. We took the #5 seed of 8 seeds to make playoff Sunday, one loss and you go home.
Game 4: Early Sunday morning we opened up against the #4 seed Hatfield Ice Dogs Again. The Ice Dogs came to play this game, but so did the Jr. Knights. We brought our A game and out Shot them 32-17 and won the game 3-1.
Game 5: Early Sunday Afternoon we drew a tough #1 seeded NJ Colonials team that was rolling through the tournament beating teams by scores of 6-3, 6-1, 5-1, 6-1. Our boys got pounded with penalties early killing 6 minutes of 5 on 3 only surrendering 1 goal against. Colonials came out scored early in the 2nd period to put us down 2-0. We didn’t give up and kept playing our game knowing it would eventually wear them down and we scored the go ahead goal with 4.8 seconds left in the 3rd to win the game 3-2 to put us into the Silver Sticks Finals. The upper-hand in play was evident in the area of “shots-on-goal”, of 52-20, over the Colonials.
Game 6: Late Sunday Afternoon we bumped heads with the only team to beat us in the tournament, the #3 seed Protech Ducks. At this point in time the boys were playing on pure adrenaline we came out of the gates with a bang with a 3-0 lead at the end of the 1st. From that point forward, we never looked back; in wining the Silver Stick Philadelphia Regional Tournament 4-1 over the Protech Ducks.

It was a great team effort after a disappointing loss Friday night; our boys put it together and became a team, on and off the ice. I could not be more proud of any team I have ever coach with how hard they work and how much they wanted it out there on that ice!! NOW we have our sights set on Jan 16th -18th and the capturing of The International Silver Stick in Sarnia, Ontario!
The Silver Stick finals, is a “Tournament of Champions”, consisting of ONLY Silver Stick Regional Champions from across Canada & The United States.
